The trail passes through lush rhododendron forests, terraced farmlands, waterfalls, and traditional Gurung and Magar villages, gradually ascending into alpine landscapes. The highlight of the journey is reaching Annapurna Base Camp itself, where trekkers stand in a natural amphitheater surrounded by snow-covered Himalayan giants.

Detailed Itinerary

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Pokhara

Arrival in Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurna region. Meet your trek team and attend a detailed briefing about the route, safety, and preparation. Spend the rest of the day exploring the beautiful Lakeside area with views of Phewa Lake and the surrounding hills.

Day 2: Pokhara to Chhomrong (1,940m)

Early morning drive (approx. 3 hours) to Ghandruk, a famous Gurung village with stunning mountain views. From here, begin your trek through terraced fields, forest trails, and river valleys.

Descend to Kimrong Khola and then climb steadily up to Chhomrong, a beautiful village offering close views of Annapurna South and Machapuchare.

Day 3: Chhomrong to Bamboo (2,310m)

Start the day with a steep descent down stone steps to Chhomrong Khola, followed by a steady climb to Sinuwa. The trail then enters dense rhododendron and bamboo forests, offering a peaceful and shaded trekking experience.

Gradually descend into the river valley and reach Bamboo village.

Day 4: Bamboo to Deurali (3,230m)

Trek deeper into the Annapurna Sanctuary. Pass through Dovan and the Himalayan Hotel, following the Modi Khola River. The landscape becomes more rugged with waterfalls, cliffs, and misty forest sections.

Slowly gain altitude as the air becomes thinner before reaching Deurali.

Day 5: Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m)

Begin the ascent towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp (3,700m), surrounded by dramatic mountain views. Continue into the Annapurna Sanctuary, a natural amphitheater surrounded by towering peaks including Annapurna I, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare.

Arrive at Annapurna Base Camp and enjoy a spectacular sunset over the Himalayas.

Day 6: Annapurna Base Camp to Bamboo (2,310m)

Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Annapurna massif. After breakfast, begin the descent back through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, and Dovan.

Continue trekking down to Bamboo.

Day 7: Bamboo to Jhinu Danda (1,780m)

Descend through Sinuwa and Chhomrong, then take a steep trail down to Jhinu Danda. This village is famous for its natural hot springs located beside the Modi Khola River.

Enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot springs after days of trekking.

Day 8: Jhinu Danda to Pokhara

After breakfast, take a local jeep ride back to Pokhara. Enjoy the scenic drive through hills, rivers, and villages.

Day 9: Departure from Pokhara

After breakfast, check out and depart for your onward journey from Pokhara.
