Overview

History and Legends of the Sar Pass Trek

The Sar Pass Trek, nestled in Himachal Pradesh’s Parvati Valley, follows ancient trails once used by local villagers and shepherds to cross the high mountain passes. The name “Sar” comes from the local word for “lake,” referring to a small frozen lake trekkers cross near the summit.

Though not tied to grand mythology, the region is rich in Himachali folklore and spiritual tales. Locals believe the Parvati Valley is blessed by Goddess Parvati, who is said to have meditated here, filling the land with divine energy and serenity.

Over time, Sar Pass has evolved from a shepherd’s route into one of India’s most scenic and adventurous treks. With its mix of forests, meadows, snowfields, and panoramic peaks, it carries the spirit of the ancient Himalayan explorers who once walked these paths in harmony with nature.
