Overview

History and Legends of the Phulara Ridge Trek

The Phulara Ridge Trek lies in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarkashi, a route once used by shepherds migrating with their flocks through alpine meadows. These ancient trails connected remote Himalayan villages and reflect the region’s deep bond with nature.

Though lesser-known in mythology, the ridge lies near the sacred Har Ki Dun valley, believed to be the path of the Pandavas to heaven. Locals say the divine aura of that valley extends to Phulara, and many still leave small stone cairns on the ridge for safe passage.

The name “Phulara” is said to mean “land of flowers and light,” capturing the beauty of its blooming meadows and peaceful charm — a place where history, folklore, and natural wonder come together.
